RED-TAILED HAWK

The Red-tailed Hawk is a bird of prey. Its diet consists of rabbits, rodents, small birds, and insects. The Red-tailed Hawk likes to live in open landscapes like fields along the edges on nearby tall trees. They are the second largest hawk with a shorter, wide tail and long, rounded wings. They can be seen all around the United States, being one of the most common hawks. Depending on their region their color in their feathers varies. In Wisconsin, they can be recognized with their wings, head, and back normally a dark brown. The underside of their wings are normally a cream color with dark brown; their tail a cinnamon coloration.
